Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic violence impacts women, men, and children of every age, background, and belief. Nearly one in four women and one in seven men in the United States have suffered severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Victims are deprived of their autonomy, liberty, and security, and face tremendous threats to their health and safety. During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we commit to upholding the basic human right to be free from violence and abuse. Learn more about the many faces of domestic violence, the ways DV impacts individuals, families, and communities, how to support friends or loved ones who are being abused, and how to get help for yourself or someone you may know.
