An echocardiogram is a type of ultrasound that uses sound waves to take images of your heart. The sound waves are high-pitched and are bounced off of different parts of the heart. These echoes can produce moving pictures on a video screen.

Types of different echocardiograms

Why Is It Done?

This test can be used to observe the heart and to detect any abnormal sounds. It can check the thickness of the walls, check how the valves are functioning, and check how the heart is performing overall.
